Sedimentologist - Aberdeen, UK (Ref: 08/006)
Corex has an immediate vacancy in its Aberdeen office for an enthusiastic Sedimentologist to work within the Reservoir Geology Department.
Suitable candidates should have relevant experience in clastic/carbonate sedimentology with a petroleum or petroleum service company and will be educated to BSc or MSc level. Overseas travel may be required.
Responsibilities will include:
- Core description of clastic and carbonate rocks in terms of stratigraphy, and facies
- Executing fracture analysis by goniometry
- Process and interpret geochemical data from SEM, XRD, cathodoluminescence, and stable isotopes
- Assess the geological controls on reservoir quality
- Compile sedimentological and petrographical data and write reports
- Support with petrographical work in terms of thin section analysis (interpretation of facies and cement histories) may also be requested
- Coach and train staff in sedimentology
