Senior Sedimentologist - Aberdeen, UK (Ref: 08/005)
Corex has an immediate lead role in its Aberdeen office for an enthusiastic Senior Sedimentologist to work within the Reservoir Geology Department. This position is to execute studies and projects on core rocks for clients of petroleum companies. Suitable candidates should have relevant post graduate experience and approved track in clastic/carbonate sedimentology with a petroleum or petroleum service company and will be educated to MSc or PhD level. Overseas travel may be required.
Responsibilities will include:
- Process and interpret core data from clastic and carbonate rocks in terms of stratigraphy, facies and basinal setting
- Discuss core rock data in relation to provided geophysical logs and/or seismic images
- Interpret data of fracture/paleocurrent analysis executed by goniometry
- Process and interpret geochemical data from SEM, XRD, cathodoluminescence, and stable isotopes
- Assess the geological controls on reservoir quality
- Petrographical work in terms of thin section analysis (including point counting, interpretation of facies and cement histories) may also be requested
