Research and Development Projects
Over the last thirty years Corex have undertaken many Research and Development projects in the field of Core Analysis and Formation Damage analysis. These projects have helped Corex maintain their status as a leading provider of Core Analysis Services by further pushing the boundaries of our understanding of rock properties. Ultimately, the Corex client base has benefited from this research through improved data for reservoir modelling and a better understanding of the perophysical parameters controlling reservoir behaviour.
Publications
Many of these research and development projects have been undertaken in association with the world’s leading Oil Companies and subsequently presented and published by the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Society of Core Analysts.

Financing Projects and JIP’s
As a world leader in Core Analysis Corex recognise similar requirements via different clients to better understand a problem in a given reservoir or geological formation.
At times like this Corex welcome the opportunity to bring several clients together to undertake a Joint Industry project (JIP). The benefit of these projects can be enormous to any operators willing to share data, core material and costs by undertaking mutually beneficial studies. Corex will always welcome the opportunity to conduct this type of research.
Current Corex Research and Development projects underway
Sand Retention JIP –
The objective of the project is to compare different test methods adopted in Sand Retention testing by different laboratories and determine bias, if any of particular methods relative to others. For further information click here for the project prospectus.
NMR database of the key reservoirs of Libya-
The objectives of the project are as follows:
- Screening reservoirs to find which would benefit from the use of NMR logs.
- Enhancing the understanding of the petrophysical properties of Libyan reservoir rock by using NMR core analysis technique.
- Creating pseudo-NMR curves from conventional log responses.
- Developing a catalogue of NMR parameters for calibrating NMR logs in Libyan reservoirs.
- Training individuals in the Libyan petroleum industry on methods of interpreting and applying both NMR core and log data.
